The SmartExhaust™ Bath Fan/Light Switch is a simple and efficient solution for achieving adequate bathroom ventilation and meeting exhaust ventilation requirements. The SmartExhaust™ is designed to replace the bathroom fan and light switches and serves as a ventilation controller and fan delay time, featuring programmable settings for running the exhaust fan as much or as little as you want, automatically. This product provides whole house exhaust ventilation. (*Wiring the SmartExhaust™ to operate a light is optional)

With other fan and light switches, the time that someone is occupying the bathroom does not always provide sufficient run time for the fan to eliminate bathroom humidity or contaminants. Using the SmartExhaust™ Ventilation and Delay settings, the fan can be set to run on a timer so that adequate ventilation can be met even after someone exits the bathroom.

Ventilation and Delay Settings

Using the Ventilation setting, the user is able to set the number of minutes per hour that the bathroom exhaust fan should run to achieve desired/required ventilation.

Using the Delay setting, the user is able to set the number of minutes the fan should run after the SmartExhaust™ switch has been turned off. When the switch is turned off, the fan continues to run for the set delay time.

    Update

So it's been 11 years since I installed these in my first rental house and my personal house. They are going strong still no problems. They've been put in every house I've owned since and have never had a mold or moisture problem again. I highly recommend them

    Review

More than 25 years ago I started building fan-off-delay circuits for bathrooms, using time-delay relays. These functioned much as do the integrated SmartExhaust Toggle switches, but were very labor-intensive to build and used parts that were also quite expensive. When another manufacturer started selling this functionality built into a single-gang switch, I leaped at the chance to offer these switches to customers in virtually every bath remodel I performed. Unfortunately, the other manufacturer's switches failed after two to three years on average, with 100% failures after four years, result in multiple expensive callbacks. I gave up on installing this technology, but a few years ago needed to replace two switches I had installed in a rental I owned, and stumbled upon AirCycler's SmartExhaust switch. It looked very similar to the other product, but AirCycler let me know that they have no connection with the other business. The switches I bought from them have now proven reliable over several years of use, and I have installed them in 3 homes I have owned. These switches also have a feature, not available in the older switch, which my clients like: the ability to manually terminate fan operation when desired. But the biggest reason I use these switches, and recommend them to others is that Air-Cycler stands behind their product. When I suspected a failure in a switch (having had so many failures with the earlier manufacturer) Air-Cycler has promptly sent out replacement parts to my rental with the request that we only send back the broken switch (prepaid) so their quality team can inspect it. Egg on my face, the problems in the lighting/fan circuitry turned out to be completely unrelated to AirCycler's switch. No failures in 6 switches I've purchased for my homes from AirCycler so far. I have them installed in my rentals, and my own home and am relieved that they just work, and work, unlike their predecessors. I am now retired from contracting work, so don't purchase these switches in any quantity. But I recommend them to friends and family, and have never heard a complaint. I don't have any stock in AirCycler, but the way they have treated me, I would recommend you give them a try, too.

Just what you need and should have in a bathroom

Having Rental houses that no one liked using the fan when taking a hot shower caused me to redrywall too many times due to mold concerns and an city inspector that's tough. I started using one of these switches in my own home and quickly realized I needed to put them in the rentals and Viola My moisture problems in my bathrooms had disappeared. The inspector thought something was wrong with the wiring the first he turned off the switch and the fan stayed on until I explained what I had done. He agreed that this was a great setup. Ok I know you may think its a bit expensive for a switch but it works incredibly well and I have not seen mold or messed up drywall in my houses since I started using them. Mine are set for 10 minutes.
